Got our annual mortgage statement this week. We paid more on principal than on interest this year. Makes me feel like we are getting somewhere finally.:-)

That is amazing! Congratulations! How long have you owned your home? We just bought our home in October and I feel like right now we are only paying pennies to the principal based on what we are paying in interest!

Way to go!

So awesome!!! I bought my house last year and the amount I pay in interest is disgusting!! I make an extra payment a year in an attempt to bring it down!

We have been in this house for 8 years now, and are still fixing it up , so have never put extra on the mortgage. This is the year the outside gets finished painting, we have already put in all new windows and a high efficiency furnace and heat pump, really helped with the utility bills. Plus at the time there was a powersense rebate for installing energy efficient home products.
