Grrr! My son's dentist suggested he get sealants on his adult molars that have come in. I had them bill insurance and we got a statement back that it was 100% fully covered. I took him in in January for the sealants. He wasn't doing well so they came out and asked if they could give him nitras (sp?) oxide (laughing gas) and I said that was fine.

I get a bill from them and obviously the gas wasn't covered. I'm just so irrirated with myself. I just didn't think about that at the time. Also, they took panaramic xrays which I didn't expect and those aren't 100% covered through insurance. I probably will end up owing them $100. I will just pay them $25/month but I am just annoyed with the whole thing.

Also, we did pictures for my DD at Sears on Sunday. It was going to end up costing us $125 which was fine b/c my mom gave us $100 towards her pictures as a b-day gift to her. The sales lady told me that for an extra $25 we could get 2 more sheets of pictures and one more 11x14 plus the disc to make copies in the future. I went for it and it ended up costing me $65 out of pocket (with tax) vs what could have been $30. I just should have said NO we were happy with the pics we got. Oh well. What's done is done.

Sorry to hear about the troubles. I would take it as a live and learn experience! I can't believe laughing gas wasn't covered? I wonder what the logic is behind that one???

Is it a pediatric dentist? Our ped. denist will take the insurance's payment as payment in full, provided it's within reason. They kinda told me this. I have to pay $25 for the sealants that my ds had on--the ins. said I owe them $100, I think. (This post actually made me remember that I haven't paid them yet, yikes). They didn't bill me for the flouride treatment on either of my boys either--my insurance only pays for a flouride treament once per year--don't know why. So, maybe you'll get lucky on the sealants, don't know about the nitrous gas though. GL
