Well, I said I might have more good news this month and I do!
A distant Unlce of my father's died awhile ago(I had never met him, he was in his late eightys I believe) and left my dad some money. My dad knows I have been having trouble lately(he is doing just fine, retired and is not in any type of trouble) I just deposited the cheq last night. It was for $7,000.00! I am a very lucky girl.
I wanted to put it all on debt but decided with my stress levels... I would be a bit more strategy oriented:
$2,601.00 on my debt(couldn't resist the extra dollar(half way now!!)
$3,399.00 into savings(added to my current efund equals $4,700 in emergency savings for me and the store, so If anything happens I don't have to back slide on my debt repayment)
and
$1,000 into my personal savings earmarked for a car upgrade my bf and I are saving for in October(gotta maintain those vehicles)
So no fun money, but I still count it as stress relief. I do have a little trip planned in March or April for an over night with my girlfriends but we all have to lose 10 pounds first. We are all supporting each other. So the end game for that is 6 weeks and I have a bit of time to save for it.
Soooo I do still have a lot of debt. I will continue until it is gone. I will try to be positive and keep going.
I truly do appreciate every one's support here on this board. Good luck ladies on your own journey!

Oh good for you and I admire the strategic approach you took.
Sometimes the self pleasure is the new lower balance you see when the payoff is recorded, and remember that you probably bought something pleasurable when you made the debt in the first place - well maybe?

I suppose if ignorance is bliss then I did get something out of it(NOT). My debt was acquired from having a business with my ex-husband who was supposed to be doing the books, filing the taxes, paying the gst etc for the business. I did not know anything about that side of the business but learned in a hurry when it all caught up.
Plus the business needed a bit of cash flow help when I purchased it. Also because I sold my half of a property when we split up it increased my personal income which I had to pay a lot of tax on. So now I have all this debt(I found out in May of 2008 that I had 30,000 in debt and have paid off half in 9 and a half months).
So What did I get out of it:
Knowledge: I know more about running a business now than I ever thought I was capable of. My ignorance, in this case, was very expensive.
A business: I now have a business that generates an income
Equity: I do have some equity in my business, but not a whole lot.
It has been a terribly stressful 2 years. I did not shop my self into 30,000 worth of debt. I don't own a house or a car.
Have a good day ladies.
When we were running the trucking company, I gained so much knowledge in running a business.
