I was reading the Stimulus Plan and looking around lately and I tell you, I think we just penalize work in this country.

Apparenlty there is an $800 payment that will be made to all who are unemployed - I know it is tough out there, and many people need this money to survive right now, but follow my logic for a moment.

The $800 will go to the unemployed in a lump sum check.

Apparently this discussion has gotten way off topic from the dead beat dad... but I totally agree about the bail out. I have never heard one thing that is going to benefit me in anyway. Even if we get an extra 10 bucks a paycheck we'll probably end up paying it back out of next years taxes anyways like the "stimulus checks". I don't really know how all of it works and I don't care anymore, theres nothing that can be done about it now anyways its done!

What I do know is I'm a firm believer in everything happens for a reason. I think we were already changing for the better before Obama and his stupid plan, even with cruddy old GW in office. Just by the fact that everyone was changing on their own, not letting the government change

Good for you, you are a smart gal! Do not let anyone talk your family into buying a home or anything else for that matter until you know exactly what you are getting into. As far as politics go, it all makes my head spin as well. Good success to you all during this time of recession. I know we can all come out of it ok. Prayers go out to all!

"I don't like Obama, didn't like McCain either, but hes here now and so is the bailout so all I can do is -pray- it helps out somehow, eventually. I hope for the best, but expect the worse. The best thing my family is doing for ourselves right now is staying out of debt, working hard, trying to be kinder to our earth, and enjoying the simple things in life."

Absolutely!

I also think part of your post very profound;

"Just by the fact that everyone was changing on their own, not letting the government change our lives for us. I think a pp said now its the "in" thing to be frugal, stop racking up debt, pay with cash, work extra jobs if you have to to get by. This is how we should have been thinking all along."

You're one smart lady! I agree 100%

Sue

So what does this has anything to do with debt support? It seems like someone is venting about an ex more than providing support and ideas on how to get out of debt.

Its probably just that . . . a vent. But that the great thing about this board. Sometimes you come for advice or to ask questions, sometimes to help others and sometimes to just vent. Its nice knowing that there are people here who you can vent to who understand that often the little things in life can be magnified 100x when you are dealing with the pressure of digging out from debt, KWIM?

As for the original post, I'm not much help, lol. I'm Canadian so I haven't the foggiest notion about what the stimulus package means for everyone. I can say that our stimulus package here doesn't seem to be doing as much. I don't think I will see any benefit until October or November when I max out on certain taxes (so I see a little bit of extra money at the end of the year, its a stupid system if you ask me!!!) Oh well, not much to do but keep on keeping on!!!

Cheers :)
