When I got up this morning we had no water...we had to replace the pump in our well...$1000.00 (I guess it is good my tax refund came in yesterday - but it wasn't suppose to go toward replacing a pump...but we had the money so that part was good and the man said the pump was 16 years old and we were lucky it lasted so long)

My light bill came in and it was $272.00 - that is over $90.00 more than last month - now I might could understand this if we lived in a cold part of the country...but we are in Georgia and it has been in the 70's some of the month.

When it rains, it pours.

I am so glad that you posted that..because I hadn't thought about it that way..with the drought we had last year in Georgia - in fact everywhere - we are lucky to have water to pump.

I got you both beat. Our water and sewage bill was raised to over 100.00 for two months. Be happy you all got wells and don't have to pay that.

Love to all

I've never lived in town where you have to pay a water bill...but I hear all the ones at work talk about how much their water bill and sewage have gone up!

Do ya'll set your thermostat and leave it at the same temperature all the time?

I've changed 90% of my bulbs to the energy efficient. DH grips a little, because at 49 it's getting harder for both of us to read anything, even the remote LOL!!!!

We have TVA to thank for our big utility hikes.

I'm going to look and see about the rate increase - that is probably why it went up.

I have my thermostat programmed to turn down when I leave for work and then up again just before I come home, and goes down again about 11pm. I find this is easier than me trying to remember to turn down the thermostat.

I also have some things plugged into a powerbar that I can turn off so that I don't have to unplug them but they aren't drawing any power, plus they can't be accidentally turned on by the little ones when they come over. When we go away for a few days I do turn off the powerbar for the tv/dvd/etc.

I hadn't heard of people unplugging their stoves here (in Canada) but when I was visiting a friend in England she did have a switch on the wall just to the right of her stove that turned it off so it wouldn't use any power when it wasn't necessary.
