Sorry to hear that Becky! I know how annoying it can be when life gets ahead of you. I misplaced one of my charitable donation receipts and had to call the place to get another (I think a whole bunch of my paperwork got tossed out when my sister attempted to clean!)
I am jealous you have a desk! I can't wait until my roommate moves out in two months! Then BF is
I uncovered 2 bills this morning that got buried on my desk. One of them is due, oh, TODAY. The other one is due...tomorrow!
What I have just started this year to stop my bills from migrating to the bottom of my paperwork on my desk, is as soon as I open them and check to make sure they are correct, is to tuck them into a bright pink folder that has written on it "To Be Paid". So even if the folder gets slightly buried I can still find it easily on paydays. An additional bonus to this, is now DH, when he is so inclined to see what we still owe for the month can find it easily. Slowly getting him involved with the bill paying etc.

Becky, you have to have so much on your mind, I can see how you over looked these two bills.

I do something a lot like you do, I list bills on a spreadsheet by payday, or it can be done by month as well.
So down the left side I list each bill:
House payment
Insurance
Car Payment
Electric
Cable...
Then on the top of each column I list the pay date and then the amount I get paid.
