Rollercoaster of emotions...

So about two weeks ago my dh called and said it looks like his job may be outsourced for good this time (this has been hanging over our heads for years on and off so that the union will make concessions during the negotiations).....So we are okay in that I still have my job and even though it's relatively new (been there 7 months) it's full-time and I have the option of getting health benefits if dh's are lost. My job would barely cover our expenses if we had to live on it (bare bones) BUT we would not be homeless so very greatful there!
So it's been stressful to think about, but I made the decision to stop snowballing/snowflaking and send all that money to the savings just in case. That way, the trauma of losing a job would be easier dealt with, I think. Still hard, but at least we would have a small cushion.
Fast forward to a couple days ago...my boss came into my office and closed the door. My heart sank for a second....but then she pulled out a piece of paper and had me read it. It was a small raise and a performance based bonus! So that is going to be like an extra $1000 this friday after taxes and an extra $20 a month (not much, but hey every little bit helps:) ).
So I call my dh and let him know and he is excited. He called me then and let me know rumor has it, his position may be kept even if some of the others are outsourced. Someone from up top told him that his job has been talked about as being "safe".....
So you just never know, I guess!
Thought I would share:)

Sorry to hear that you are going through this (although WTG on the raise!!!).

Congratulations on your raise and bonus!
My husband has had so many ups and downs in the job market for the past three years, I'm beginning to think I becoming shock resistant.
