Good and Bad

Well today has been a mixed bag of news. The good: My union ratified the agreement and the new rates of pay were released. The employer has 150 days from signing to send a check with backpay. I am guessing it will be somewhere around $1500. That will be perfect because it will likely come in sometime in the summer so I can use it toward the Australia fund. As soon as it is signed, my paycheck will increase by about $40 (every bit helps!) and then again by another $25 in June.

The bad: I didn't get the job I was hoping (and lead to believe) I would get. I am in a "pool of qualified candidates" which is decent because it means anyone in any department can offer me a job without have to go through all the interviews again. Its bad because I really wanted the job :( So I am going to be working on my resume tonight!

It seems like the theme for today is a two sided coin.

Hahaha Kate I sure am a CAPE member, lol. I was trying to figure out what my backpay would be but it so complicated because of the payscales changing, me being contract for part of it etc etc.

And I to am unilingual English! I can only go so high before I am stuck! I am going to wait a few months and then start speaking to departments that may be able to pull from the pool! I just SO wanted this job!

Thanks for the thoughts Marie. Unfortunately (or I guess fortunately) I work for the federal government.

I agree with you Kate. I can't do much because our jobs are divided by level. I am the lowest so I get a lot of the grunt work. I understand its the way
