A strange thing to be relieved about...

My boss announced today that it has been decided company-wide (and I work at just one branch of a huge company) that there will be no raises given in 2009.

With the numbers the company posted last year, I totally expected this.

My company did the same thing, and I am totally fine with it!

It sure is! As I menioned in another post our union just ratified a deal which included a very small raise. I come from the private sector where I was consistenly getting raises of 5% or more a year (based on merit) but now I am happy to even HAVE a job (and sadly, it looks like a lot of my private sector friends may be out of work as the company appears to be moving towards outsourcing).

These are times to be thankful for anything you have!

It is amazing how your perspective changes. Late last year I was anxious that I couldn't pay my debt off fast enough, then at the beginning of the year and lately I have been sooo thankful that my debt hasn't increased!

And btw, CONGRATS on both your tickers. 24 pounds!! way to go! And you have come so far on your debt ticker. Lots to be proud of Robin, keep it up!

That's great news about the job Robyn, even the salary freeze.

Yep, yesterday they had another cut here, and our department was spared.
