I am not sure if this is debt related, but in a way it is.

I am not sure if this is debt related, but in a way it is.
I'm so sorry you are going through this. I can't imagine the stress. Here are my suggestions.
1) Have you looked into assistance (food stamps for example?) I'm not sure what it would take to qualify, but if you are only bringing home $1500 with a child, I would imagine you are close (I'm from Canada so I'm not sure how it works)
2) Angel Food Ministries. If there is one near you, you can order a box of food for pretty cheap. Again, this isn't offered in Canada so I'm not sure how helpful it would be.
3) I noticed you didn't calculate in expenses such as insurance. Do you have theses? If so where?
4) Look into freecycle. They are online groups of people who give things away for free. I'm sure if you looked into it they would have people who give away clothes in your sons size.
5) Any chance at all of picking up extra work? Maybe you could babysit a few nights a week when other parents need a night out. It might only bring in a few dollars, but it could help.
Other then that I say just keep your chin up. You are doing the best you can for you and your son. You can do this!

First thing I would do is call your electric company and see about getting on an averaging program. That should be of some help to you since spring is on the way. This would give you more money to eat on. And I agree with the other posting about the Angel food bank. They are great. Look them up on line to see where the one closes to you are.
I would get in touch also with the churches in your area to see about getting in any other food banks. Many of the churches that run food banks also have clothing at the same place.
Awesome suggestions, Bex!
I definitely think she would qualify for food stamps and perhaps some other assistance. Don't be ashamed to use it -- that is what it is there for.
Freecycle is a lovely thing. Get on there and ask for what you need. You would surprised at the things people offer and have that they aren't using. I Freecycle ALL of my girls old clothes (I suppose I COULD take them to a consignment shop, but I'd rather help someone who can't afford clothes). I've gotten many things and given many things on Freecycle.
I've so been there and no how you feel worry about paying bills and putting food on the table and clothes on your child.
Listen to the posters who tell you to contact a local food bank, church or aid program as that might help you find free food or something.
Is your son on a free lunch and breakfast program at school?
How much is owed total on the auto pawn? One option would be to contact www.modestneeds.org if the amount is around $1k. They offer single, small grants for people with one time expenses like this that might help you pay it off. That extra 30/week would probably make a big difference for your making ends meet. Then you could look at some of these other great suggestions. It seems like until that auto pawn is handled, it's going to be an uphill battle.

Definitely post the size he wears.
