50 dollars to my name

I picked up our car yesterday, dropped off the 700 dollar check and then promptly went home to the computer to see what the damage was to my bank account. I put in all my automatic withdrawals that are going to be clearing before next weeks paycheck and I will have $150 dollars left over. That's better than I've been in the past where I could only claim dollars to my name! We had been planning to take the kids to the Boston Museum of Science today. Good friends of ours have a membership and we were going to bring lunch, take the T and have a cheap day of fun. They called yesterday and I was telling them how we couldn't afford to go and she let us know that they had decided to treat us to the trip. They are even renting hotel rooms for all of us and taking us to dinner. I absolutely told her that she did not have to do this and we could just plan the trip at a later time, but she was insistent and so excited about spending time with the kids. She has been talking about taking me to Boston for awhile now and giving me a mom's day out. It was her birthday this week and I guess this is how she wants to celebrate. So I'm conflicted here about feeling very gracious and happy that they want to do this for us and telling them not to bother. But the decision is made. All we have to do is pay for parking and we can handle that. I also did my taxes last night and so now we're just waiting for the money to come in and life will be better!

I'm so glad you get your trip!
I have had a rough week financially too.
OH that sounds like a trip my boys would absolutely love!! Have fun. I must do something similar in the summer!
My truck has been making funny noises and I had a friend look at it. I don't know how much he is charging me yet(probably not much, just some for parts). But this morning, it was surging while idling again! I guess it is old. I just have such a phobia about leasing or getting a car loan. I had a horrible experience giving my leased vehicle back in the summer time, very stressful and expensive. I want all my snow flakes to go to current debt, not new debt and I do want a house at some point. Urrrgh. There is never enough money!!
Sorry that turned into a rant! Have a great weekend!
