Here is my sad story. First I think God is getting me for bragging on how good I have been paying down the debt and he has decided to give me a whipping.

First about three weeks or so ago, I was eating a taco chip and a sharp point of the chick stabbed my upper gum. It got all red and swelled up. I didn't want to run up a big dentist bill so I just kept washing my mouth out with salt water. But the upper gum didn't get any better. Just got more red and started to really hurt. I told Raymond I better get to the dentist.

I am so sorry to hear about your troubles. I would make the choice based on the best chance to be able to eat and talk, no question. Even if it meant taking longer to get things paid off. Have you met with the dentist that does the implants? I would be really wary about any promises the dentist makes without seeing the situation, and I would try to see what kind of reputation the dentist has, but if you are a good candidate for the implants, that is what I would do. And don't forget to give yourself credit for your savings, too. You did everything you could to be ready for a crisis, which is already hard enough. Best of luck to you!

I'm so sorry to hear of your dental woes. I don't have a bridge but I do have several crowns and it is a major pain when one comes off and I have to have it replaced. which has happened a few times, once I lost the crown completely, think I must have swallowed it in my sleep. One other time I managed to loosen 2 crowns in the space of a week and it was over the holidays. Not great for the budget. But if I was in your place I would ask my dentist if they had a recommendation for a dentist that would do the mini implants as a second opinion, maybe you can get them done for a bit less than the TV guy who has to pay for his fancy advertising. Even if you still go to the TV dentist you would at least have a better idea if he was charging you the going rate.

I take it the upper plate is/was a fixed unit and the anchoring teeth are gone?

I'm so sorry! My best advice (and I may be repeating someone else) is to check the "new" dentist out thoroughly for complaints or other actions. I can't remember which organization keeps up with that stuff, but folks can comment and rate medical personnel like they can items on amazon, so I would definitely have a look at that.

Best of luck to you. Your good health is worth every penny.
