Remember last week in all of our karma discussions I said that a company had made a mistake and issued me a check that was $4K more than I was owed? I wrote an email to the woman who sends through payments and told her. I thought I had done the right thing. I didn't cc it to anyone in case she would get in trouble. She wrote back, thanked me and asked me not to deposit the check and they would issue me a new one. (he email had a cc to someone I guess in the financial department). I emailed her back and said I had already deposited it because I had bills that needed to be paid out of the portion that was owed to me. I suggested they take the overage out of what was owed me on the next project but asked her to advise. I heard nothing so I guessed they were working it out. Today I found out from my bank that the entire freakin thing was returned. They must've put a stop payment on it WITHOUT TELLING ME. That caused all kinds of things to bounce. I am livid.
I immediately fired off an email to the head of the company who wrote back and said she knew nothing of it. I had purposely left her out of it because I didn't want to get anyone in trouble. Man am I steamed. The checks that bounced were covered by my overdraft protection and I transferred money out of savings to cover that but this just sucks.
I guess the karma fairy was on vacation.

Sorry to hear you're going through this Jenny. Hopefully the company head can get it sorted out asap!
Good luck!

I'm so sorry that this happened to you!
We had something similar happen several years ago with a payroll check.

Sometimes things are just not fair! I try to do all the right things. Sometimes I get rewarded but most of the time I really don't.
I am sorry to hear they handled this the wrong way for you. Hopefully they will resolve it and cover your fees. Good luck.
