The head of the company has sent me numerous apologetic emails. They are supposedly over-nighting me a replacement check for $5K which is the original amount. They also said to keep track of any fees and they will reimburse those. So far the only thing I can easily see is $19 in processing for a stopped check. BUT had I not had overdraft protection to the tune of $7K I counted up and found I would have had nine overdrawn checks, some of which went to credit card companies which in turn would have be meant they would have raised my interest rate plus charged me fees for a returned check plus late fees.
I have to pay interest on that $7K even if it is only for a day or two. But most of all there was also a LOT of stress and tears this morning (which my kids asked why Mommy was crying). How do you compensate someone for that? I am still really, really mad.
