Finally bought some clothes for myself..

I went to Macy's because they have a big selection of plus size clothes and they usually have really deep discounts. You wouldn't think you could get deals at Macy's. They tend to be the most expensive store in the mall, but I was right. I got a pair of $50 dollar jeans for $10 dollars (80% off their) and I got a pair of aerosole boots, originally $90 dollars, for $22.25. It really did make me feel better about myself. I went home and did my hair and makeup and shaved! I've decided that I really have to shift my attention from my kids wardrobe, which is leaps and bounds ahead of mine, with clothes set up in the next sizes even, and focus on me. I can't be a good mom if I'm frumpy and unhappy!

Get this though...made me feel even worse...as I'm in the dressing room with my 2 youngest sons, my 5 year old mutters, "I hate being in here." I asked him about it and I guess he can't stand seeing mommy in her underwear. He even turned around and said yuck. I told him to turn around when I got undressed and he did. My 5 year old really seems to be affected by me being fat. Let me tell you my worst story about him. I was trying on a cowgirl outfit for vacation bible school and dancing around the living room in a hoe down type fashion and laughing and having a lot of fun and he yells out "Mommy...You're FAT!" Man did that hurt my feelings! Stopped me right in my tracks. I didn't know what to say to that. I mean, he's only 5 and I know he doesn't understand that something like that isn't appropriate to say. So in a way, I'm really wanting to get myself back in shape just so that my 5 year old isn't repulsed by me. I don't really know how to address this with him, but it feels really awful!

Anyway - I'm feeling better with some new shoes that are actually stylish and comfortable at the same time. I've decided to take some money each week and purchase one thing for myself, even if it's just a few dollars worth of jewelry. It's not like I'm a compulsive shopper. I haven't shopped for myself since I used a gift card from Christmas and if I didn't have the gift card, I would have never gone shopping.

Abbie-
Huggs I have so felt the same way. I had my daughter and gained weight, up to a size 18, then lost it to a size 4, and 120 pounds, then gained it back again.
I look at photos and wonder how I could have done it over again.
But it is still me in this size 16, and my DH loves me and I am doing OK overall.
My test results are good, I have no issues at age 46 BP. I have cousins who are over 300 pounds, so it is definatly a genetic issue.

I don't want to buy clothes at a 16, so I wear what I have, as it grows tired and worn.

I do work out and run a lot. My Dr just got me on some meds, and if this does not work, I will consider a lap band when I have debt paid off.

Huggs hun
