Hi I am new to this whole budgeting, but I am going to jump right in with 2 feet. We have about 15,000 of debt plus mortage if you want to include that. My husband bring home around 5,000 clean and clear. And I do about 1400. So together we do around 6400 a month. We have 1 son, 1 dog, and tons of fish. It costs about 5,000 a month to run our household and our lives. This is if we cut down bear min. The only thing get family and me do for fun is hunt (so guns are needed) and we also bush camp everyweekend in the summer. I dont really want to give up those 2 things as we dont really do anything else that cost us money. I really want to get out of this debt. A month ago we sold our fist home and were lucky enough to get out of 30,000 debt. I am looking for help to continue to get out of debt.

Welcome to the board Hope you decide to stay around with us.

First thing you need to do is find out other then guns where your money is going. I would think that you buy a gun once and that is about it. But you go to McDonalds and other places time after time.

Oh goodness I hope this goes to the right Jenn, lol.

First of all, welcome. You have found a great place to come and share ideas, to vent or to just talk to people who understand.

As the other Jenn said, your debt load is very managable. I would first focus on the unsecured debt rather then looking at your mortgage.

Take it in pieces. How much is the minimum each month? Is it on one card or multiple cards? What is the interest rate you are paying? Once you know this and where your money is going, you can make a plan to get rid of it, even if it means sending an extra $10 a month, its still something extra that is going on the principle!

Do you have any money set aside for emergencies? Most people here aim to have a little bit put away in case something happens.

Welcome Jenn -

First you will find a great group here to support you through this, but will also find that everyone has a different spin on budgeting, and spending plans.

First know what you are spending on - keep notes and look at where those dollars go.
