Has anyone used one? What are your thoughts? I have an appointment scheduled for next Tuesday with one and am waiting to hear back from another company so I can have some different takes on my situation.
We use a financial planner for our RSP's and most recently setting up the RESP for new grandbaby and also for setting up our new TFSA (Tax free savings accounts). We find that doing it this way and having auto-withdrawals going into the accounts it is easier for us to manage.
I'm biased. My dad is a financial planner so yes, I have been using one for years, lol.
The trick is finding one that is good for YOU. I would ask around for referrals. See who people like. I would never use a planner from a bank (I've had friends who are wonderful people who got jobs straight out of university as financial planners for banks - they are limited in what they can sell and have no experience)
The most important thing about a financial planner (I think) is how well they communicate and listen. If you don't feel comfortable with someone, don't feel obligated to invest with them. Its YOUR money and YOUR future.

Well Madoff was one, and he was highly accredited!
Beware, and be prepared.
