Who is planning Easter baskets? or baskets for family or grandkids?

With my Boston trip just THREE weekends away I had to plan early for Easter this year. My basket fillings are done and packed away in my basement. We aren't going crazy this year but I filled them with things I might have bought the kids anyway.

New swimsuit for my son and new sunglasses. An outfit for his Build-A-Bear and some jelly beans.

Sandals for my DD. Chocolate bunny and some coloring books.

Easter baskets in our family are just candy. DH bought it well in advance, I stashed it in an unusual place (our walk-in closet), and wouldn't you know, little mice came along and helped themselves to the Hershey Kisses and M&Ms! Fortunately they left the big chocolate bunnies alone. But DH did have to go get new candy.

I've stopped putting gifts in the Easter baskets. I used to give each of the kids a Catholic gift, so they would remember what this day is about, but you run out of good ideas after a while.

Kids won't be with us this Easter, but I am still going to make them candy baskets for when they get home on Sunday.

Easter is strictly a faith based holiday for us.

I found a bunch of cute puzzles, bubbles, & sport decorated eggs last week at the Dollar General Store and only spent $7, basket & all for our 3 yr. old grandson.

This post reminds me I need to check the closets to see if I have some old baskets I can recycle.

Easter grass drive me nuts! Plus, we got a dog about a year ago so there is no way I'd trust my dog not to eat the Easter grass.

I don't know if your 9 yo DD would be ok with this but I am forgo-ing baskets this year and just getting buckets and shovels from the dollar store for them to use. Your 2 yo might like that and its cheaper than buying a whole new basket.

We don't really celebrate Easter. We are not religious people, so we don't do anything religious for it. My mom usually buys my girls something small for Easter but they don't get "Easter baskets". We don't color eggs or anything like that. I know. I know. We're odd. lol.

I think my 2 yo would eat the grass........she puts everything in her mouth.....lol.

My 9 yo probably wouldn't mind, she is more concerned with what is "in" the basket.

We agreed not to go overboard, so I'm just buying my daughter some candy.

The pressure is off this year because my birthday falls on Easter Sunday this year!!

Oh what a fun topic! I love holidays! But I haven't even thought about Easter yet! As a music director, I get so busy with music preparation for the church service that I can't even think about Easter until the day before it seems! This year we have so much music and I'm singing a solo which always makes me nervous. Plus I'm preparing music for my new church as well which I'll be starting in May. I'm super busy!

We never have much money for Easter baskets. In my perfect world, I would love to have elaborate baskets and color eggs and bake things with the kids, give them great presents, but it's just not feasible. This year, we'll probably find some old baskets from previous years, buy some candy to put in and we usually get the kids a book for Easter. And I don't like the book to be Easter related because we rarely buy them new books. We used to get them kids bibles, but now they have 5 kids bibles! I'll probably get my older son one of those Diaries of a Wimpy Kids books. He loves those and has been begging for the next one. OH and we always do a big Easter Egg hunt. We do the plastic eggs and fill them with candy because boiled eggs seem a little boring. There's only so many boiled eggs you can eat.

I'm sure we'll have a small budget this year, but I'm not sure how much yet!
