Paid with cash!

You guys are rubbing off on me. Last week I was settling up with our contractor who is finishing the renovation on our master bathroom. We decided to go ahead and fix it since it has been half finished for nearly two years and we may need to sell our house so it had to be done. The workers did a great job, it looks like something out of a magazine and I was dreading the bill. I had figured I would have to put it on a credit card. But a week's work came in under bid at $1,600. I was about to get out a credit card but at the last minute got out my check book AND PAID WITH CASH! It hurt to pull that out of savings but all weekend it felt so good to know it is paid for. I paid for $360 worth of materials with cash earlier in the week, too. But they overestimated the amount of tile needed and I was able to return almost $200 worth leaving very little on my Home Depot card. The only thing left is the shower door which will be a big ticket and will have to go on the Lowes credit card. Sigh.

Still, I know it's not much in the grand scheme of our battered finances but it's a really good feeling to know it's done and won't be pushing our debt even higher. I hope to get a good sized check in a couple weeks which I will use to at least partially replace the money back to savings.
