Anyone watch Suze on Oprah today?

I did and got to thinking that if our income stays up I'm going to probably beef up savings some more before paying more credit card debt. Although I do have a decent emergency fund I think I will feel better with more in it....even

Michelle, I am with you on the savings thing. Tonight hubby came home and informed me that he would like to pay and take a friend to some conference in September , take DS on a trip to South Dakota to see the "heads " as my son calls them, redo our bathroom. Just where does he think the money is going to come from for all of this? He knows full well that we are saving for another car that needs to be purchased this November.
He came down from off of cloud 9 and said that he was just excited about how much we have been paying on stuff and that maybe we could squeeze one of his ideas in. I am all for doing the bathroom because we desperately need a shower but the other stuff will have to wait.
Men, you can't live with them, you can't live without them(or could we? lol!)

I did watch Oprah today....I was going to pay off our
Just to let you know (and you can tell your DS this) seeing the "heads" isn't all that exciting.
I saw it.
Maybe it was just me but I didn't think it was one of Suze's "best" shows as Oprah has claimed. While I do believe in having a good efund in case of emergencies I am just still determined to get rid of my c/c. At 18.99% interest I can't afford to "stash my cash" when I would rather pay down my debt and have extra per month. KNOCK ON WOOD - we are hopefully not in fear of losing our jobs (never say never but.............) - and I am more hell bent now on paying off my c/c's then stashing the cash.
Again, JMO from what I got from the show.
I think Suze has some great advice but when she says, "save half your paycheck" she doesn't account for people who are barely getting by. And although it is great to tell people that its bad to "walk away from their homes" sometimes the reality is if you don't have a Fannie May or Freddie Mac loan you have NO OTHER options. Making the stimulus work for you is great IF you fit the guildlines given by the government. A lot of people don't fit those guidelines. And those people need help too. I don't know. The show just bugged me for some reason.
One thing I did appreciate about the show is how she explained how the gov't will help homeowners.
Beeps,
I agree with your take on the show 100%!
