Our car insurance payment was late. There was no particular reason, except that I tend to be lazy about finances and that's one of the only ones that isn't paid automatically. So we got a message on Friday or Saturday that our policy was about to get canceled. I tried to pay online, but their system was down. I forgot about it until today. I went to pay it and it said that our policy was canceled as of 3/28. Since DH knows the insurance agent (I use the term loosely. He's spoken to him quite a few times and has actually met him) and I've never even spoken to him, I had him call. Luckily, even though it was "canceled" we had about another week before it was canceled for good. There was no fee to reinstate it and we didn't have to apply for a new policy. We would have been in trouble if we had been in an accident. Otherwise, we're OK. Needless to say, I'm about to set up an automatic payment.
