Maxie,

Your husband might be angry. Let him be. Let him have his emotions and then when he's "done" being upset, angry and discouraged you two can approach this together. Without him on board (and since he knows about the debt he will be on board) you two can't save. Now that he knows (at least about some of it) you can say to him, "let's cut spending this week" or "we are low on funds" stuff you might not have said before for fear that he will wonder where the money went or want to know what bills were paid and all that was paid were credit cards he didn't know about.

YOU have the courage to tell him. You do. And stop reading financial books. Get yourself a novel from the library and dig into that.

Good luck tomorrow night! Please let us know how it goes. I will be thinking of you....

You will do just fine. I think your husband's concerns that you are taking all this on yourself show he is tuned in to you and on board to help in whatever way he can.

Good luck with telling the DH about the rest. If he is worried about you doing it all yourself, after he settles down, give him something specific to do. Like pay one bill on time by himself. Just an idea, again, good luck!
