Sick over taxes

Hi,

I am new to this board, unfortunately though, not new to debt. I'll try to keep this short...I got laid off in October and have been collecting unemployment which is much less then I was bringing home when I worked. Now I have to file and I owe big time!!!! I barely have enough $$ to eat this week let alone pay anything towards my taxes and I'm sick to my stomach over it. I filed an extension, but I don't know what else to do...I really am at the end of my rope....Anyone been in this situation before? Any ideas? Anything? I would really appreciate it.

Laurie,

Please don't panic. I have never owed taxes but aren't you able to pay in installments? I would check into that. I am sure there is something that can be done for you.

I am really rusty on this but seems like I have seen some mention of being able to deduct job hunting expenses. Not sure either if them might be deductable even if you do not itemize.

Laurie,

I heard this article on NPR re: taxes and advice for those in your situation.

You might want to check this link. I went to the IRS site for a quick glance and tried to find some info on job hunting expenses.
