Preliminary vacation talk.....

I am feeling frustrated. Let me try to sum this up before it gets too long.
We have about $16,500 in c/c debt. My DH is looking at getting a $6-7,000 check from his employer for back/retro pay when his union signs a contract. This could happen next week or next year. The longer it takes and he continues to work - the bigger the check is so if it takes another 5 -10 months - that's ok by me.
Anyway, between the retro pay we can expect (sometime...) and our tax return next year and my 2nd job we are hoping to have this c/c debt wiped out. I know its a big dream/hope but that's what our goal is.
My DH is promising our 5 yo DS that we will go to disneyland next year on his spring break. This annoys me b/c my DS is telling everyone that when he turns 6 and my daughter turns 3 we will go to Disneyland.
So, today at work is slow so I am searching some Disney sites and seeing prices of stuff. HOLY MACARONI. For a four day ticket to the parks for our family of 4 it will run us approx $900. NOT TO MENTION THE AIRFARE AND HOTEL. Plus, food, souveniers, etc.
So I talked to my DH and told him this will cost us a few grand. I don't think its going to happen this year. He is all grumbling saying he will get his retro pay and we will "make it work."
That's great to say but HOW. I was planning on putting that retro check to our c/c debt - not a family vacation. I love my kids but they need financial security - not Mickey mouse.
I am just frustrated. I hate to rip this dream from my son but I'm ticked that my husband is blabbing stuff to a child that might not happen.
Thanks for listening - just needed to vent. This all won't even happen until April 2010 so I am making something of nothing right now but its just bothering me.

Any way of keeping the peace by squirreling away $80 every two weeks?

Disney is great but really expensive. I even remember the kids hamburgers inside the park being 8 or 9 dollars(for ONE burger) and that was a few years ago. This one is such a personal choice.
Have you showed DH how far you have come, and how frustrated you are it is not going faster? Wouldn't it be fun to save for it and have the money to go in cash? Try to sell it on him, it could work. Then by that time, the kids will be a little older, easier to manage and might remember the experience. A three year old will NOT remember it.
I know it is hard beeps......my bf throws things at me all the time he wants to do(although nothing like the ex husband did hence the ex part LOL). We just have to remember the things we love about them and keep going.
Take er easy!
Hi there -
I live one exit off the freeway away from Disney and have always lived in Orange County so I've been there ALOT over the years and know the area.
I completely understand your frustration.
I remember what it's like to learn of the "plans" after the kids are told and
