Long time no see!

I have been super-busy with school (16 credit hours) and work (30 - 40 per week) and being PREGNANT!

We are currently in week 28, and getting so nervous! After trying for 5 years, we NEVER thought we would actually get pregnant! We are having our second little boy!!!!

DH lost his job a little over a month ago, and his 4 weeks of severance has run out. He DOES get the full amount of unemployment (minus taxes and child support), and I make $9.00/hour at my job (no benefits other than a discount on groceries).

Things aren't GREAT, and the money is drying up quickly (didn't have much of an Efund, unfortunately). DH has had four interviews in the past couple of weeks, so we are hoping one of them pans out soon - and pays decent!!

Otherwise, he does some at-home work, which pays OK, but fluctuates (one day he might be able to make $50, and another day he might only make about $5). He isn't very dedicated to it, or else he could definitely make MORE doing it.... But he is really depressed about our situation, so some days just drag on for him...

Anyway, just wanted to say hello and see how everyone is doing. I have 3 weeks left of this semester, and then only 6 more classes to graduate! And once school is out for the summer, I can help DH with the at-home work and help us bring in a little more $$$.

Miss you all!

It's been nearly a year since I last posted - sheesh!

Our baby was born last July, so he is now 8 months old. He has been a TERROR (colic is not even close to describing it!!), but beautiful nonetheless.

DH took a job as an over-the-road truck driver as there were no other decent jobs in our city. I don't work right now, as I am in my LAST SEMESTER OF COLLEGE - finally! I am taking 9 credit hours, while the baby is in daycare part time, and I stay home with the kids the rest of the time. It makes it hard to study and do homework, but I manage. DH is home most weekends, but rarely through the week. I feel like a single mom most days.

Our current financial situation: DH brings in less than we spend - even when we are super-frugal. His pay varies each week, so that makes it even more complicated. We have used up just about all of the Efund we had in savings to keep the bills current.

Hopefully I can get a job right after graduation that will pay DAYCARE, STUDENT LOAN PAYMENTS, and a little bit more to help with the rest of our bills. My fingers are crossed for that!

The dilemma, (beyond all of that) is that about 2 1/2 years ago when DH lost his job initially we had to stop making payments on several BIG debts. Those plus doctor bills that we are behind on, we probably owe about $40,000 in debt that we are not even making ANY headway on. (I am current on a couple doctor bills, and 3 debt accounts that are small.)

We don't know what to do. Should we try to file for bankruptcy on the things we just can't pay on (and are already nearly 3 years old??)? Or is there a way to get those caught up someday? Two of the debts are BIG - one is over $10,000 and one is over $16,000. They would likely settle for a big chunk of that, but obviously we don't have that kind of money. And if they accepted a payment plan, it would likely be several hundred dollars/month, which we also cannot do (as we are pretty strapped right now).

Any thoughts?

Anyway, life is good.

We have some trials to overcome still, but we are making progress. I'll have my bachelor's degree in 2 months. We are caught up on back-child-support, so that will mean $25/week will be back on DH's paychecks. We got that baby we tried for 5 years to conceive (and NO MORE - I got my tubes tied!!). Life is good. :)

He isn't the greatest sleeper. And he hardly naps at all. blah We are working on it!

We are getting close to getting those LITTLE debts paid off, which makes me feel good.

I am glad to be here again. I have just been so busy the past year. I'm STILL busy - so I gotta run for the night (paper to write!), but I plan to check in more regularly! I need the motivation and encouragement!!!

You know I always believe people should pay their debts, and work two jobs if needed to do so, but in your case, I would look at the BK option as well.
