Dateline is looking for families hit hard by the recession, in need of real solutions:

-Have you lost or are about to lose your job?

-Do you have a family to support and feel you will go into "crisis mode" if you are suddenly unemployed?

-Are you a business owner who is being forced by economic realities to lay off workers?

If so, we'd like to hear your story. Please send a brief description of your situation, name and a telephone number where you can be contacted to ivcommunity@mail.ivillage.com. We look forward to hearing from you!

Can you please ask Dateline to do a story about those of us doing really well in this recession? Some of us are a bit tired of the news media exacerbating this "crisis" to the point that they are helping to create it.

Tell them to

I am glad that you are doing well in these hard times. It is good to hear positive things. However, please keep in mind that not all people are. Everyone has a different story. I lost my job in December and just went full time last week. I signed up with every temp agency in my small town and not once was I called for an interview. I walked into numerous places only to be told that "Thanks we will take your resume but we are not hiring". I was also told that "Sorry, please apply online ." I had even picked up applications for fast food places before I was lucky enough to hear about my current job through a friend. I understand that some people abuse unemployment but it put food on our table and at least allowed me to keep my payments current. I have a friend who has a Master's Degree and has not had one interview. I am not trying to be disrespectful to anyone. This is just my opinion. I feel that things are now back on track. One good thing to come out of this that I am more determined than ever to get my debt under control.

KRG -

You got your job through a friend - did you know over 80% of jobs are located through networking?
