Well here I go. I am pulling a Mary Ann. No, not feet wise, teeth wise. I hadn't been to the dentist in well a good 10 years. I am phobic, I hate them, I normally throw up.
Well I have a toothache. So off to the dentist I go. By the way I spent months looking for a dentist - can you say procrastination?
I heard from our secretary where I work that she is phobic too and has a dentist that understands and gives great drugs to get chickens through things. So I thought what the heck? Worse case scenario I panic and leave, I have done that before.
So I go in just for a "get to know the staff" exam. They are nice, the dentist is nice. So I let them take x-rays, and talk to the dentist about my history.
He tells me I have HORRIBLE periodontal disease, that must be fixed right away, I have a cavity that can wait a while, and a bad filling that is lose, that can wait a while, he also wants to figure out why my top jaw is so narrow - due to the stupid ex-husband that broke it is what I told him. Well evidently the surgery I went through isn't holding things the way it should. I don't know what they will do about that IF I let them do anything.
Good news is I have good dental insurance, bad news, it is still going to be a very costly next few months. So goodbye Efund, goodbye snowflaking, goodbye paying off the last credit card in 2 months.
I am just sick about this.

Please get another opinion!!! I have heard of things like this happening and I do not want you to lose your money if you really do not need to have all this done!

Dana my teeth that I have left pain for you. I don't know your age but I will tell you at 35 I was told that I wouldn't have any
That's encouraging that he'll work with you and that the insurance company says good things about him, Dana.
Based on your call that sounds very reasonable.
Must have been dentist day yesterday, because I went in and got prepped for a crown - looks like around $219 for my portion as they only pay 50% on insurance - that will max out my healthcare savings account and DD needs her wisdom teeth out this year as well.
DH has a crown that needs to be done as well, but it will be on his insurance.
Good luck with everything, oral health is important, just ask MaryAnn.
