My wonderful husband called me from work today to let me know that they cut his hours as of today. So instead of him working 5 days, it's down to 4 days. I guess that's alright (it's going to have to be for the time being). His pay hasn't been cut just his hours. To me this is the same thing just played out differently. This is for at min. 2 weeks but as much as 3 months at least, if not longer.

So I guess that e-fund will come in handy if we cannot make mortgage and car payments, etc. No more snowballing until he goes back to 5 days a week.

Has anyone else gone through this and how did you get by??

Thanks
Kelly

My husband lost all of his overtime which was a few extra hundred dollars every week and add to that paying out $600/month for daycare. We just manage, you learn to tweak things and work it all out. It all works out at the end. Good Luck

Hugs Kelly.

Not sure if I'm understanding completely. If his pay wasn't cut - is he making the same money working 4 days as he was 5 days or is he losing a whole day of pay?

If he's losing a whole day of pay - which is what I'm assuming then that just stinks. BUT, at least he wasn't laid off completely.

I would do your best to re-evaluate your "essentials." Cell phone plans, etc. Anything that you were keeping as a luxury might have to go on the back burner for now. Bummer.

I know, I'm not sure I understand either. He said that he is down to 4 days working but no pay cut (he's salaried). SO with that being said, we are assuming that he would get paid for only the 4 days he works. If he gets paid for 5 days that would be wonderful and all my worrying would be for nothing. But I'm expecting a 4 day work week with only being paid for 4 days. Some of the other employees are working 5 days with less pay. I don't know what to make of this.

confusing isn't it??

It seems like more & more companies and having to cut back on employees pay just to make ends meet.

my son is also salary and he was cut from 5 days to 4 The whole company was about 300 or so people. He didn't lose any pay. Reason the company did that was to save on electric and heating and air and water. If they can close down a full day that is 5th

Please look into loss of wages unemployment benefits. I know most people assume you can only file for unemployment if you lose your job, but this isn't true.. you can file if your hours are cut too. I'm not sure how much your hours have to be cut to qualify, but definitely look into it. It's worth a shot.
