Laid off.....

Happened Thurs afternoon. Came as a shock I will admit only because I was part time and didn't think I made a lot of $$ to cost the company. But, it IS a real estate company (commercial) and I know/knew they were suffering. Myself and another girl (full time) got laid off.
I was upset at first - mostly because I've been there 8 years and hate change. And because I've made a lot of friendships / work friends that I hate to see end. I am ok with not having to drive an hour to work and back home.
I found out I am going to make a very good amount of my salary for unemployement. And I still have my 2nd part time night job. We will be ok financially but I know this will slow our debt repayment a little. I guess it was a blessing my MIL paid off my DH's car as a gift......things DO happen for a reason in life!
I am planning on searching for jobs but fully enjoying the summer off with my two young kids. SIgh.....but I won't be posting as often. My home computer isn't the best and I will get to the library when I can to post/check in.
Wanted to say thanks for all for the great support thus far. UNEMPLOYMENT WILL NOT ADD TO MY DEBT! Of this I am certain.

So sorry to hear this. Getting laid off is no fun no matter how you look at it. I hope you find something closer to home after the summer. Enjoy those kids!
I hope you can fully enjoy your summer with the kids.

Sorry to hear that you got laid off.

Sorry about the lay off. Just keep your eyes open during the summer and maybe something will come your way in a new and interesting job. Or the old one will call you back by fall. People on TV are saying that things are starting to pick up.
