1. Do you have any important events this month you will be participating in? Wedding? Graduation? Prom? Moving to a new town? Birthday? New Job? Concerts or shows? Have you been looking forward to them or dreading them? Why?

Birthday party for sons, visit to relatives, relatives visiting us. I'm trying to get the house immaculate for my in-laws...as it is theirs!

2. If we had a Debt Support Group Bar-B-Que potluck, what would you bring?

White Trash Fruit Dip - a favorite!

3. Have there been any significant changes to your financial circumstances compared to one year ago? If you were told a year ago about the current state of the economy, what would your reaction have been?

We declared bankruptcy a year ago this month, so it has been a very bumpy year. If we hadn't...we would've probably lost everything...including our minds! We also closed DH's remodeling business. Friends told us to hang on last summer, but we saw the writing on the wall and apparently were right.

We have the birthday dinner for our middle child on the 18th, a joint birthday party for him and our oldest on the 28th, and Father's Day.

2. If we had a Debt Support Group Bar-B-Que potluck, what would you bring?

I supposed I'd have to bring a cake or my homemade potato salad. I meet people I've never seen before in my life and they'll start talking to me about my cakes or my potato salad, LOL.

I would be proud to know how far we'd come, and not at all surprised to find out we'd still be managing day to day on a shoestring, LOL.

**Father's day is coming up. I must buy golf balls for my ex for the kids. I would like to buy my bf something to as he helps me so much with the boys. I should send my dad a card and the bf's dad I will get a couple of chocolate bars. Total expense $40.

2. If we had a Debt Support Group Bar-B-Que potluck, what would you bring?

**Garbage caserole. It is a rice caserole with whatever you have in the fridge and a tin of tomato soup and water. Very cheap and very tasty. I hope Mary Ann brings her tomato soup cake because I want to try it!!

***A refocus on debt, and finally feeling like I might be able to move forward. I don't feel trapped anymore, in fact quite the opposite. I feel in control. I would not have been surprised if someone had told me the economy was going to be on a down turn. I could see everyone around me spending and living pay cheq to pay cheq with two incomes. Something, somewhere has to give. I am just glad that people are seeing alternatives now, including saving, living within their means and living more frugally. Being frugal is "cool" now. I love it!

Yup. I am moving back to my home state of Ohio. I am tired of being far from family and fighting with the schools out here. Tired of the weather, and feeling like I live in the middle of nowhere.

2. If we had a Debt Support Group Bar-B-Que potluck, what would you bring?

Cherry pie...hot out of the oven.

If you told me a year ago about the state of the economy, I would not have been at all surprised. I saw this coming a mile away.

There has been a change in my financial circumstances from a year ago. I no longer carry any credit card debt. And I have money in the bank for a downpayment for a house. But it doesn't FEEL like a change, because I live as I have always lived.

My husband's cousin is getting married in 12 days. I am looking forward to it. We have a hotel room for a night and my Mom is looking after our kids. I'm looking forward to the break. Also, weddings make me feel sentimental and thankful for our blessings and I enjoy reminiscing about our wedding plans and day. Makes me realize how far we have come.

2. If we had a Debt Support Group Bar-B-Que potluck, what would you bring?

Right now my life has been very busy and I am trying to simplify things for myself. So, I would likey to volunteer something simple like pop and water to drink. I'm feeling very uninspired to cook anything or find some new recipes.

3. Have there been any significant changes to your financial circumstances compared to one year ago? If you were told a year ago about the current state of the economy, what would your reaction have been?
Compared to a year ago, our financial situation is much better. We have no credit card debt. Also, in the past year DH and I have gotten substantial raises.
The state of the economy doesn't surprise me all that much. What does suprise me is how nervous it has made me despite the fact that thus far our jobs are stable. It has changed the way we think about money. Our current goal is to get monthly payments to a point where either DH or myself could pay them if the other lost our job or was unable to work. It's going to take us a bit to get there, but a good goal none the less.

I have a wedding this weekend ( a vow renewal actually - are you supposed to buy presents for that??) and we're going out with friends on Saturday to a bar probably, so that means money on a few drinks at least. It's a big celebration because old friends of ours are visiting from Georgia. I have a recital coming up the following weekend. I'm putting it on so that means money on food. I think that's it, but I'm not really looking forward to any of it because it means spending money and I'm pretty broke this month.

2. If we had a Debt Support Group Bar-B-Que potluck, what would you bring?

Hot dogs, because they are the cheapest!

3. Have there been any significant changes to your financial circumstances compared to one year ago? If you were told a year ago about the current state of the economy, what would your reaction have been?

My husband just started a new job a year ago in April. We definitely made more money this year but it doesn't feel like it! Where did it go???? If I was told a year ago about the economy today, I would have said "Ya, I can see that". My life has been in financial ruin for so long and I knew there were many people in the same boat as me.
