Ok...I didn't know how to title this post, but I just got an email from my pastor (I am music director at a church) and he says "Oh, I forgot to tell you that there's a wedding this Saturday. Do you want to play? It's $100 dollars I think"

The last time I did a wedding was practically 2 years ago. I'm rusty on the wedding march, but it's doable. They need a prelude and postlude and I think I can handle that as well. I'll just need to pull out all of my old standards. I'm just a little in shock right now because I have 3 days to prepare, plus whatever music I need to prepare for church on Sunday. AND I have a big party to go to on Friday night and another wedding to attend on Saturday. But how can I say no to an extra hundred dollars when I need it so badly???? OK..breathe...breathe...

I have a lot of practicing to do! I'm excited because I love weddings, but at the same time overwhelmed by all I'd have to do to accomplish it. And a little stressed, especially since I can't find my Bridal Chorus music! I had a copy of it, but I lent the actually book to one of my students so I may have to call her and arrange to pick it up because I'm not buying the book over again just for one song!

Oh congrats and this could lead to more wedding gigs I bet! Can you not download music sheets from the internet and print them? Just a thought. Good luck!

I just didn't want to have to learn a new version of the Bridal chorus with such short notice or I would have downloaded something. I called my student and picked up the book already so that relieves my mind!

I got a new job at a new church that is bigger than my older one. So far I have sung at a funeral and now I have this wedding so it looks like I will have many more events than I have ever had in the past. That equals out to an extra $200 dollars that I've made in the past 5 weeks just from moving to a bigger church! It's pretty easy money, although very stressful when you're performing. You definitely don't want to mess up during either a wedding or a funeral! Hopefully it will get easier with time.
