I wonder how many of the 60% of consumers that are worse off, actually know they are worse off.
Disposable income? What is that? LOL. I seem to think my children have disposable income while I do not. Just kidding I know what it is, I just don't have any or not much these days. Some of that is by life choices.
I am not sure if the unemployment in my area is bad, in fact I don't think it is. However, the wages do not seem to go nearly as fast as the cost of living. I have seen rash of consumers paying for their purchases at my store with coins or putting back items. I don't remember that happening last year.
I think people's moods here are a little glum. It could be to do with the cool weather but I think they have less jingle in their pockets in general and that is not helping.
All I can say is that things in East TN are still ruff.
