I've had an account with Upromise for several years now and have a little bit in my account with them so far. I have to confess that I would probably have a much much higher balance than I do if I had actually remembered to do my shopping by going to the store website via Upromise. I recently installed their TurboSaver, which is a toolbar that makes sure you get your savings. Since adding that I get a little Upromise symbol by partner companies when I do google searches and if I go to one of the sites a message pops up at the top of the screen telling me how much my purchase could earn. That is much better than the old way where you had to log on to the Upromise website to go to a store website. I'm finding it easier to use so hopefully I can get more money in my account that way. You can even link certain store cards to the account - ie. Kroger, so when you buy certain products you get so much. It isn't a whole lot but the way I look at it is that I was going to do the shopping anyway so this gives me a rebate of sorts. According to Upromise you can also use an account with them to help pay on certain student loans so those of you that have student loans but no kids might want to check it out.
I have had a upromise account set up for ODD since shortly after it started. I have never been real diligent about making sure to use companies or anything that contribute to it, but would mostly use the grocery store contributions and exxon mobile gas. Down here in Texas there aren't really any grocery stores to use it with except one that we don't use often because its way too expensive and CVS. I still try and use Exxon when I can, but not if its anymore expensive than other gas stations. What I have gotten the bulk of my contributions from are internet shopping, mostly at christmas time and now since both Jordyn and I wear contacts, we get quite a bit from our contact purchases online instead of using the eye doctor, its cheaper and I get contributions. I don't have much in there, about $250 last time I checked, but as you said, its better than nothing.
My mom and brother also both have accounts set up that they use. They were both originally set up intended for Jordyn, but since I have almost 2 more now, we'll see. Jordyn is closest to college and we are a lot more financially stable than when I was single, so most likely unless my brother has a child in the next few years, both accounts will still be just for Jordyn.
Thank you for bring this up, Becky. I have never heard of it before but I just signed up. Looking at my spending pattern, I don't expect to get much, but every little bit helps. Even an extra $20 dollar towards the student loan payment is good.
Not sure if you or anyone has experience in this. Currently I have a 24hourfitness membership and the fees are automatically billed to one of my credit cards. Since 24hourfitness is part of the program, how do I get the 4% from my monthly fees? I registered the card that is being billed to. Do I need to do more? Thanks again.
Usually if you click on a vendor it will give you the details, or you can email or call them. The few times I have called or emailed with a question, such as when I got married and needed to get the name changed on the account, they were always very helpful.

I didn't really want to link a CC to it but I saw you could do loyalty cards too.
I didn't install the TurboSaver thing because I wasn't really sure about that.
It all feels a little Big Brother to me.

I was trying to see that on there too but on the one hand, you don't send them extra money, so if you lose it -- not a huge hit.
