Trying to remain positive

We are okay here...I mean we are current on bills. My DH is still not working much, just small jobs but I'm thankful for those. I've had some overtime at work too.

But I'm discouraged that I can't pay down the debt like I want to. We were doing so well until about a month ago when his work stopped. And any extra I get is going to savings I decided, at least for a while anyway.

And my credit card is upping the interest rate on me...I don't really use it any but don't want to close it either with my situation.

And of course depression and discouragement aren't a good combo for the wallet!! Spending money ,even a little, is like a happy pill for me. That's ridiculous isn't it.

You are doing the right thing about the saving never think that you are not. Because credit cards can go in a minute We got great credit and in the last couple of months we have lost two of ours without them giving us a good reason.

I have always been a big saver even as I have trying to find every cent I could to pay extra on the debt I always put a little aside for the bad times which in my life always seem to find me.

This is something I did about a year ago and it has helped me to look at interest in a very different way. Maybe you should consider doing something like this also It just might make if nothing else you feel better about what course you are taking at this point.

I found a Credit union that was paying interest on the daily balance of their checking account. Some small banks in our town are starting to do the same thing. I get 3.25 interest a month on the checking account which really comes to about 3% Now I know you are thinking this isn't much but what I did was I took all our saving and put it into the checking account. Which made the daily balance on the checking larger then it really was. The credit union also offers bill pay free. I try to without the payments being late keep every cent of our living money in the account until the last part of the month before having bill pay send it to the bill.

For me saving a large amount of money is really out of the question but like I am sure you do on each pay day You deposit your paycheck in your checking account. For the few days before the money is paid out in bills the credit union gives me interest on that money. Now I am not saying it is a lot of interest. But if I take
