Logistics Q about Weekly Snowflaking

Okay, Sarah & Mary Ann, you have both inspired me to try snowflaking weekly instead of monthly.
Although there are many ways I can do this, the biggest opportunity arises in my grocery budget.

Hi Robyn,
I'm going to chime in on this one...
If you are going to find those extra snowflakes by reducing the grocery budget, I would suggest just reducing the amount of cash you allocate for the two week period.
Hey, there, mckeekitty!
That's a good idea; sort of a "forced" snowflaking trick.
Gitlfriend you are going to beat me to that 0 Well I am coming up on you slow but sure.
I do snowflaking two different ways but both ways is
Hey, lady!!!
I read one of your other posts and it made me wish I was standing right beside you so that I could give you a hug.
Thanks for your kind words, Robyn.
I am so glad you brought this up and explained it all.
I must admit, Robyn, that I was very skeptical that the savings would be worth the perceived hassle of plugging/unplugging appliances and such.
DH is really into being "green" so I can probably pull him on board with this pretty easily.
I'm late chiming in - been a party weekend around here! I spent all day yesterday decorating cakes.
Anyway, when I flake my savings, I do it in one of two ways.
1- Most of the stores I shop have the prices on the display as they ring up. Before I complete the transaction, the "amt saved" is displayed on the screen. If I've saved $15.31, I might get $15 cash back (what I saved, rounded) and I'll flake that.
2- Option 2 is to go home and electronically transfer the amount of my savings to one of my bills.
If you're using the envelope system and working with cash anyway, then I'd just take what isn't spent in the designated time period and flake it. To save trips to the bank, say you have $18 left at the end of the 2-week period. When you get your grocery cash out for the next period, short yourself the $18 you already have and then use the extra $18 you left in the bank for an e-payment. You still have two weeks' worth of cash and you have an extra $18 in the bank to flake. (Which is exactly what you said, only I've complicated it ROFL). But you're right - just make two envelopes (one for each week) instead of one and flake what you have left at the end of the week.
I have no idea if I'm making sense. It's been a LONG day, LOL.
Looking forward to seeing you on the weekly thread! =c)
