How bad is it?

i have recently accepted that my spending has gotten a bit out of control in the passed 2 months. I owe about $2000 on my credit cards. I make $2000 a month and pay about $800-$900 for bills (rent, phone, electric) a month. I just have a bad ability to spend money. I made my bf keep my credit card from me to keep this debt from increasing. How bad is it that I owe this much?? The other night I really couldn't sleep b/c it was stressing me out so much, I just don't

You need to look at all that you spend and add 22% to it, because that is what it is costing you.

Think about the future you will not have with your CC debt?

ITA with Marie. You need a spending plan. You need to be accountable for where every dollar is going.

Its taken me a long time to realize this. My problem was I would short change myself on the money front (in terms of what I could spend a week) and then end up resorting to the CC's when the money ran out. You need to be realistic in your spending, but too extravagent. The good news is that if your fixed bills are $900 and you are bringing home $2000 you have room to play with. One thing that has worked for me in the past is getting out a calendar and writing down the dates when I get paid. Then I write down the dates when the bills are due and how much. This way, for each paycheck, I know exactly how much money is owed and to whom. I include $100 a week for spending (food, entertainment, clothes etc) and the rest is debt repayment.

Good luck to you! You can do this!
