I was reading this article about stress from debt making some people overweight.

In general when I am stressed out I tend to snack more.

I also get a panicky feeling that makes me much more edgy and short tempered. Usually I will keep a calm front and bottle it up but only for awhile - it will usually all come out in some misdirected way.

The funny thing is I notice myself gtting hypervigilant over what we spend at time. "OMG I would never pay that much for a steak!" but then turn around and justify a larger expense no problem.

For me being consistent about spending is the hardest part. Having this board has been soo helpful in keeping me honest!

Cheers!

I have been known to use the phrase its "ONLY MONEY!!"

Does that help...a lot of the times no, but other times it does.

I will overeat, take naps, and go to bed early. I also tend to make lists of chores, bills, and ideas for inexpensive Christmas gifts. Then I lose the lists!

OMG, I'm soooo wishing that could be my answer!!!! However, since I seem unable to do anything in moderation, I have to pass on this in reality.

Thanks for the great laugh and the dream of vicariously living out your coping tactic.

Consume mass quantities of CHOCOLATE!

Why else would I have gained 20 lbs. over the last year?

This will probably sound obnoxious, but I just don't stress. I used to stress out - literally sobbing over something I had zero control over - but I finally realized that I couldn't do that anymore. We need to find extra work and do side jobs just to make ends meet, and you can't be in the right frame of mind to do that when you're doubled over in misery. When I start to get scared, I say a little prayer (as if He didn't already know, LOL) and I start digging. I pick up another client, I find something to sell, or I play with my kids and use that time to remember what really matters. I'm not some holier-than-thou philosopher or anything. I'm just real, and I know I only get one ride on this ol' planet and I want every day to count. I refuse to let debt get me down because I already know we're living frugally and doing everything right that we have control over. From there, let the chips fall where they may. I've got an incredible husband and I'd live in a cardboard box to be with him if I had to. No amount of money is worth more to me than my family, so on the flip side there's no way I'm letting debt take the joy they give me away.

I do worry at times, but not nearly as much as you'd expect from someone who needs so much money to get through the month. And you can tell from my tickers that we're making it. How we've come this far defies explanation - even for me, and I handle the money, LOL - but a little faith goes a long way. We've got it!

I obsessively crunch numbers, maybe I'm hoping they will change.

I need to get my mind off of it.

I'm embarassed to say I'm a hothead. I get psssd as hell at myself for being in this position (though alot was beyond my control) and I fight not to think that things will be like this and I'll be this sad (on the inside) forever.
