We are actually going on vacation next week, to Maine. I'm packing up and tying up loose ends this weekend. I've already spent way too much on buying things for this vacation and I haven't really bought anything super extravagant. We all needed a bathing suit and I bought them on super clearance. I got 2 of the kids bathing suits at the disney store for $5.99 and another one at old navy for 4.99. Can't beat that! Mine was $19.99 and hubbies was 14.99 at TJ max. But with 5 people, even clearance prices add up. We're spending an entire week at a lake with no washing machine so we had to have some extra suits. I'm trying to justify the purchase here, but the rest of the cost went to buying some cheap games like cards and UNO (no TV where we're going) and a ton of sunscreen and bugspray, those cans are expensive! Besides that, we seemed to have run out of diapers and wipes, which cost a fortune and our kitchen is empty! I hate weeks like this where I feel like a sieve and my money is the sand rushing through!
uhhm let's see. I have groceries still and can make the weekend meals and maybe one or two for the week, then I need to get gas; but wait until Monday because it is Nickel off day :) And then an early bday present for my son who will be 5 in Sept, but he really wants a bike; but found one for $59, so if we get it now he can ride it for the rest of the summer. Other than that, that's about it
I played softball last night and we all went out for a drink after; I saved $5 of my weekly blow money for that (funny, the ladies were speculating on whether I was pregnant because I wasn't "drinking" LOL).
We need gas...about $30 to fill up the tank.
DH has to go into the city for a play reading, so $8 for the toll. But we have an EZPass account so that money has already been "spent" so to speak. If he needs anything else while he's out, he needs to use his own blow money.
We need some groceries to fill in for the coming week; I'm budgeting about $25 for essentials. We've been working on cutting our grocery budget by $100 for the month, and we're doing really well!
Otherwise, we're sticking close to home. We've got some housework to do, and a couple of projects with materials we already have on hand. We have a kiddie pool for the baby, and can walk to the local park for a little fun (and get some exercise in the process).
So all told, about $63 plus the blow money we've each got on hand.
Hmmmm, ya mean I'm actually supposed to try to anticipate my weekend spending? So THAT'S been my problem all along! LOL Just kidding. Here goes:
I blew another tire yesterday. Thankfully, I was just starting to leave a parking lot and was going slowly. So, now I have to get 4 tires, an allignment and balanced. I knew I'd need to do this before school starts Aug 24th and I've been trying to save up the cash. I'm just going to have to do it now since I'm currently driving on my full sized spare and another tire with a leak so bad I have to fill it every other morning. Total should be $400.00 or less if I go with middle of the range tires. Yesterday was the paycheck I was going to start paying into an efund so that's not happening and I'm still 150.00 short. I'll have to only make my minimum cc payments this month.
I still need to grocery shop but I have rainchecks (really good prices from the week of the 4th) for lean ground beef and turkey lunch meat so I'm hoping to keep this 2 week trip to 100.00.
Our favorite ice cream place, Brewster's, is going out of business in the next month so we're going to splurge and get a treat one last time before it's gone. It's really expensive but soooo good and we haven't been there since DS 6's bday in Feb. I think I'll take 30.00 and let them order whatever treat they want to eat right then and use the rest to buy a small container or two to take home.
I am going on a business trip next week beginning on Sunday, so I got $100 for spending money for the trip, but it should all be reimbursed by the company.
Well.........I am working this weekend. I wanted to get some groceries but I don't think that is going to happen because I am working the entire time the stores are open LOL! Working all the time does save you money. No, I did have some time off last week and was grateful for it but back to work! Isn't there a song? "I owe, I owe, so off to work I go? LOL!
I need to make a grocery list so I don't make unplanned purchases. I need to think about what I want to make and shop accordingly. It sounds easy but it really isn't when you get there. I probably should just not eat for a week, lose a few pounds and flake more money!
My weekends go like this:
$50 average in gas and $17 in tolls.
I'm hoping to buy a skein of yarn tomorrow ($2 or less) and will DEFINITELY have to get gas.
