So I was sitting down looking at our budget/spending for this month wondering where the heck all the money has went since I have been home and not really spending anything, making DH's lunches most days and DH's paychecks have been very nice this month. Knowing that my paychecks are going to be short in both August and September, wondering, if we are getting full paychecks now, what's going to happen the next few months? Especially since i just got $1000 worth of hospital bills this week that I need to work into the budget, a car payment starting in August, and double the daycare bills starting in September.

Then I look at quicken online and figured out a few things. I am pretty proud that our dining out/gas station stops are down significantly from last month, but our grocery bills are going to be much higher, but I suppose a good trade off. I haven't been great yet about doing sales and watching coupons, but I think I am finally getting back to being organized, so that should get better.

The big thing that really jumped out was we spent $620 already this month on household repairs, and I know DH put $500 worth of new tools on his credit card. sigh. I am glad he is being extra enthusiastic about doing more stuff around the house, and he did purchase insulation for the attic which I know will make a big difference in our heating and cooling costs in the long run.

I guess I just need to go over the budgets again and start really watching and snoflaking. We don't have a ton of debt, around $7000 in credit cards altogether, and now $1000 in medical bills, but I had really hoped to be debt free except the mortgage, car and student loan by the end of the year. But with the increased expenses, I just don't see it happening. I have started working on doing more surveys and need to do some more ebay stuff soon to help out a bit. I do have a question on dental insurance, but I'll post separately about that.

It sounds like you've done a well-thought out examination and are on track, Tracy.

Be sure to save the receipts on that insullation and other things that are energy savers as they can be deducted on your income tax for the Energy credit from the stimulus package (if you make less than $150k a couple.)

Hi,

Love that pic on your sig! You seem to have it all planned out. Be patient with DH, from what I have read over the last few months, it sounds like his heart is in the right place on most things. I know it sucks to not meet goals on time, but you have live your life. Think about it if you didn't have the goals. You probably wouldn't go nearly as far and you will get there. A new baby!! Give yourself some time to recover financially and physically. There better be some "you" time in there for pampering your self! I mean it!! LOL. Relax just a tiny bit and enjoy that little one.
