Quick question I want to throw out there for anyone who might have some input. We have one week left of our open enrollment for work and i am debating about whether I go with the HMO dental plan or the PPO dental plan. It is approximately $50 a month more for the PPO for the family. I have not found a good dentist I am happy with and have a referral to one my SIL said was really good, but they only accept the PPO. The other thing is, I have bad teeth period, I end up having quite a few costs in the years I do go to the dentist and although I didn't do a lot this past year being pregnant, I did have a crown put on and my current dentist is recommending that full teeth scaling, which scares me to death, and is expensive. I have looked at the fee scale for the HMO plans, but all the PPO says is it pays 50% of most fees and 100% of normal maintenance. I also know that I will need at least a cavity filled and possibly another crown this coming year. So I am wondering, how do I decide which is a better plan for me? I know i could take the extra $600 (pretax) that I would be spending on the increased premiums and put them into my flex spending account and continue with the HMO plan, not liking the dentist I go to as it is, but dealing with it, or go ahead and get the PPO plan hoping that it will actually cut my out of pocket costs in the long run.
Anyone have any experience with this, or suggestions on how to compare which would be better for our family?

A PPO is always better then a HMO. Rememeber that fact always.
You can pick any dentist with a PPO or doctor not true with a HMO.

I absolutely think you should go with the PPO.
