My car was towed AGAIN!

I'm really getting sick of this towing business. I'm supposed to be leaving for Maine this morning and I'm using my mom's car because it's bigger and more reliable. I packed it full of toys and towels and suitcases, lifejackets. You could definitely tell that I was going on some kind of big trip if you looked at my car. There was no sticker on her car and my husband lost our visitor pass but I figured that 1 night wouldn't hurt. I was going to ask a neighbor for a visitor's pass but it was 11 o'clock at night. I didn't want to park on the street because I thought it might get stolen or damaged because the streets are small. But lo and behold, it got towed. I just can't picture in my head the type of person it takes to tow a car with 2 carseats and camping stuff piled to the ceiling in the back (it's a subaru wagon). Even the towtruck guy I payed this morning to get my car back was baffled as to why they towed it. So I had to pay $85 dollars out of a budget that's already tight because of this vacation. BLAH! And I had to get my neighbor to drive me to the compound and leave my kids all alone at home because they took my carseats! I'm going to try and relax and forget this happened so I can go to Maine and enjoy my vacation! Oh and all of this happened without my husband because he's already in Maine! So I'm all by myself dealing with this stress. I'm calming down now! :) Thanks for letting me vent!

I hope you had a relaxing time in Maine and never get towed again.

In the future, would it help if you put a large sign on the windshield (that is, if you cannot find a visitor's pass) with words such as "I am visiting unit XYZ. My phone number is ________, please contact me if there is a problem"? Just a thought.

That's crazy! Who sits around looking for cars without visitors passes? That happened to us twice in the townhouse where we lived before we moved here. There are obviously people out there with way too much time on their hands. I'm sorry you had to deal with it. I would have been so scared to leave the kids! I hope you have a great vacation and this never happens again!

Well if it makes you feel any better, at least it was just $85 for the tow. My husband is in the natl' guard and one night he didn't get home until after 2am from drill weekend. There is such a parking problem where we had lived and knowing he had to be up and gone by 6am the next morning, just four hours, he parked in a striped line area next to a handicap parking spot. Nobody ever parks in that spot, ever. So he figured it would be ok just for four hours. He was desperate and he never parked there before but we have seen people who parked there at night for close to a month-and never got towed. Well he got towed. Yes,
