Well, so I officially lost my new position yesterday. It was not performance related and I am sure of that...really don't want to get into the specifics on this board. But basically it has left us with less income (going back to where I was before about 3 months ago) and LESS STRESS :) Which is the good thing....

SO why do I feel so badly? Anyone else go through a demotion before? I just wonder how to move forward in a company that could make such a big mistake with policy?

Thankful I have a job

Yes, I understand I was demoted about 8 months ago. I felt like a failure and with that my depression got really back & then I got really, really sick.
I know it was the best then for me, but some days it still gets me. It does get better with time.

I can't say I have been in your exact position but any situation that makes you feel badly about yourself is a challenge. At least you can say it is LESS stressful! Try and enjoy the family time and remember that it is NOT you....gosh that sounds so lame....I wish I had better advice.

About the best thing I can think of to say is remember your value as a person is NOT based on what your job is, was, or might be in the future!!

I'm sure this is hard on your head and heart. I would start looking for another job. Some companies don't think you will when you are demoted, but it is wrong to treat employees like this. Possibly time to move on? Even if it takes time and effort, it might be worth looking for another job or a career change. Try to think of it as an opportunity? Take it easy. You have come a heck of a long way on your ticker, that proves you ARE a hard worker!!
