Is anyone thinking about taking advantage of the Cash For Clunkers deal?

I could not buy a NEW vehicle right now... except maybe a cheaper model Kia.

My car has high mileage and I'm pushing it as far as I can, but I know eventually it will die.

I was looking into it, but I don't think we can afford a new car. our van is showing its age and it has a lot of miles on it, but we would have to get a spectacular deal on a new one to make it work. I would love to have a car that doesn't smell faintly of vomit on hot days (DD had a bad stomach bug that landed her in the hospital last summer), but I don't think it will happen before November 1.

My clunker, after many years of dependable service, SHOULD be destroyed. It's becoming worrisome to go anywhere in it, and I know it's on its last legs. We will be looking into this, though I wish I didn't have to just now. In Vermont, we drive a lot just to get basic things. There's not much you can do without reliable transportation.

The cheapest car to drive is the one you already own.

Dealers in Michigan today started advertising a match for the Clunker Cash, increasing the total you would get off invoice.
