OMG I'm so relieved!

I cannot even begin to express the true extent to which I am relieved -- but I think you all will understand LOL.
As I mentioned in my intro, we've had health insurance through DH's union, but since he didn't make enough money in the past year we are no longer eligible. In addition to the obvious reasoning, with all of the regular doctor's appointments we have and with the baby, going without health insurance was just not an option. So we were slated to start paying COBRA for the insurance as of this month -- adding $885 to our monthly expenses. OUCH.
We ended up applying for a government subsidy, a program that was introduced this year to offset the cost of COBRA. I just found out tonight that we are getting the subsidy! So now we only have to pay $310...a savings of $575 a month. That was $575 that we didn't have coming in -- and we didn't know where we were going to get it to be able to pay the bill. Do you hear that sound? Kind of like a rush of air? That's me -- BREATHING!
The subsidy is good for nine months...hopefully enough time to get this ship righted (and maybe even back under eligible status with the union). It just goes to show -- you really do have to look at all possible options for a little extra help!
Just had to share with those who will "get it". :)

Very good news. It just goes to show it is worth the effort to look into programs. Enjoy.
