I just read things about people shopping and I just wondered how often you all shop at different kinds of stores, so how many times a week/month/year do you shop at the following:

I haven't been to a mall in nearly 20 years (I lived on an island for 18 years).

1. Grocery store, food store, produce store or anyplace you go to primarily to buy food

I go to the grocery store 2-3x a week, to get bread and milk, I do our big grocery shops 1-2x a month

2. The mall, including plaza stores outside the mall like Kohls, that are primarily clothing retailers. We are talking about buying for yourself, family members and even gifts here.
I seldom go to the mall for clothes etc, I do go to yard sales weekly and buy a lot of clothes & gifts, etc that way.

3. Home Improvement stores/Farming stores for Norma too! Stores that focus on your home or the land surrounding it.

We do go to Rona and Canadian Tire 1-2x a month

4. Mixed use stores - like dollar stores, Walmarts or super stores, but the purchases aside from food. If it is a combined trip (food other stuff, just count the other stuff here.)
These type of stores only 6-8x a year

5. Specialty stores - hobby shops, electronics, etc.
1-2x a year

6. Other as I am sure I forgot something.

If we go to the next town we will sometimes stop at costco and one or two other big box stores but that is only a couple times a year.

1. Grocery store, food store, produce store or anyplace you go to primarily to buy food.

Two or three times a week. I like to get me stuff fresh. To avoid overbuying, one tactic that works for me is carry a basket instead of using a cart.

2. The mall, including plaza stores outside the mall like Kohls, that are primarily clothing retailers. We are talking about buying for yourself, family members and even gifts here.

Maybe once every two or three months, if that.

3. Home Improvement stores/Farming stores for Norma too! Stores that focus on your home or the land surrounding it.

Once or twice a year. I spent about 18 months doing home improvement projects when I first moved in, after that, there is hardly any need to spend money in these kind of stores other than maintenance.

4. Mixed use stores - like dollar stores, Walmarts or super stores, but the purchases aside from food. If it is a combined trip (food other stuff, just count the other stuff here.)

Once a month for paper towels, laundry detergent, etc.

5. Specialty stores - hobby shops, electronics, etc.

Every 6 or 8 weeks.

6. Other as I am sure I forgot something.

On-line stores/mail order. I do not enjoy going to the mall and cannot stand crowds. These days I am getting about 30% of my stuff on-line.

I really do not like shopping, it feels like I am always rushed and the money is not supposed to go to buying things LOL.

1. Grocery store, food store, produce store or anyplace you go to primarily to buy food

Well...I own a store so I pick up odds and ends there. Generally though once a week or every two weeks. The bf likes to go to Costco about every six weeks for our major meat buy, and bulk items, toilet paper, laundry detergent etc.

2. The mall, including plaza stores outside the mall like Kohls, that are primarily clothing retailers. We are talking about buying for yourself, family members and even gifts here.

I hate the mall. Once a year? Maybe?

3. Home Improvement stores/Farming stores for Norma too! Stores that focus on your home or the land surrounding it.

Once a month. If we have a project on the go it could be more frequent.

4. Mixed use stores - like dollar stores, Walmarts or super stores, but the purchases aside from food. If it is a combined trip (food other stuff, just count the other stuff here.)

A few times a month for misc items including clothing.

5. Specialty stores - hobby shops, electronics, etc.

Mmmmm, nope, not if I can help it. I am mechanically disinclined and I don't have time for hobbies right now other than reading and i like our library.

6. Other as I am sure I forgot something.

There are a couple of clothing consignment store I like to pop into if I have time and do a quick look. I may buy something a few times a year?

It seems a lot of people here hate shopping. I don't usually like it but there are a few stores that I love to shop in though my checkbook might not be as happy. Kind of makes me feel like I am a shopaholic with how little most repliers have gone shopping.

Good topic! Of course, I've been hiding out and avoiding any trips anywhere for months now that weren't absolutely needed, but I'll try to remember. Thanks.

1. Grocery store, food store, produce store or anyplace you go to primarily to buy food

once a week and only for groceries that are needs not wants (so, I only let the kids come when I'm in the right frame of mind to teach them the difference!) I'd like to go to the farmers market every Sat. but I think I'd get carried away.

2. The mall, including plaza stores outside the mall like Kohls, that are primarily clothing retailers. We are talking about
buying for yourself, family members and even gifts here.

I have a mini strip mall kind of deal a couple minutes away and our Southeastern Oh "Hickville's" version of a real mall about 15 minutes away in WVa and I haven't been to either since Christmas.
--and I shouldn't have gone then!!!

3. Home Improvement stores/Farming stores for Norma too! Stores that focus on your home or the land surrounding it.

LOL, ha ha ha ha ha, he he he he, oh stop, it hurts...
Really, hopefully my house wouldn't be the way it is if I'd EVER been in one of these in the 13 years I've had a house! LOL

4. Mixed use stores - like dollar stores, Walmarts or super stores, but the purchases aside from food. If it is a combined trip (food other stuff, just count the other stuff here.)

I use dollar stores for anything I can't get cheaper at the grocery store. I'll keep doing that until I think I can trust myself to go to Wal Mart on a regular basis. (Although I did do pretty well with the cleats thing but I haven't been back and don't want to risk it yet. I'll probably have to go when I get supply lists for the kids school year but I'm considering giving a set amount to a family friend and having her take them.)

5. Specialty stores - hobby shops, electronics, etc.

See # 3. Darn it, now I'm laughing again and my eyes are watering!
DS is particularly upset because my little dorm room tv from 1987 was 'his' and it died a couple week ago and I won't replace it.

6. Other as I am sure I forgot something.

Unfortunately, I spend a lot of money on Rx's and copay's. This upcoming week is going to be a real problem. DS 12 has a neuropsychology appt.

This was fun. Thanks!!!
