I just read things about people shopping and I just wondered how often you all shop at different kinds of stores, so how many times a week/month/year do you shop at the following:

1. DH and I shop once every 2 weeks for our major grocery shopping - we get all of our paper goods and some dry goods/Food at Target as we have found it to be cheaper. Most of our groceries we get a Stop and Shop grocery store. There are a few specialty items that we get at a Whole foods - mostly fruits and veggies.

2. I shop at the mall or mall like stores less than once a month - In general I hate malls - there is too much temptation for things I don't need

3. Home Improvement stores/Farming stores Only as needed a few times in the spring and summer and then usually only if something breaks that we need to replace.

4. Mixed use stores - again less than once a month, usually for gifts or a household item.

5. Specialty stores - hobby shops, electronics, etc. - once maybe twice a year usually for a gift for my DH or dad.

6. Online shopping: When I know what I need and the size I need it in and ONLY when I can get free shipping. If I can find free shipping and it is cheaper I will get almost anything online.

Lissa,

I hear you about the co-pays and RX costs. I have good insurance but still I pay somewhere around $150 a month on my prescription costs. Luckily I do have a Flexible Spending Account through work so I can set money aside pre-tax to pay for these.

I hope your DSs appointment goes well this week.

I've surprised myself....

Other than The grocery store I have cut out all the rest. (Holidays will be a helluva challenge, need to come up with a game plan)

A big problem also w/groceries was going like 3 times a week for more/adding crap we really didn't need...so I will only go once a week, shoot for under 100 bucks and I will ONLY replenish milk.

*Yesterday I did goto Barnes and Noble to buy ONLY a certification study book (IT) to study for better job/more pay at this one (the library book of the same title is for an older version of the exam, plus I can no longer be renew it (maxed). I consider that an investment, though ($29)
