Something you are not willing to give up

What is something or somethings you are not willing to brand change or give up on this journey. I will start.

I just bought 3 lipsticks through Avon(I sell it) They were out of my profits so they didn't cost me anything but I still should have snow flaked the cash I was going to make. I buy all my soaps, deoderant, shave get, mascara and gifts(things I need to buy anyway) through my profits but I surely don't need the over 50(yes 50) tubes of liners, lipsticks and glosses I have. It is just a bad habit I have. I guess I will look good getting out of debt LOL. And diet soda is problem. I probably have one or two a day. I am trying to move over to water(and green tea), I really am, but it is hard for me. I will keep trying. I have been better at consuming less beer than last month. Sadly, some of that has been replaced with the diet soda but..baby steps.

So ladies, what are your vices?

My Gym membership--

Stress of single motherhood/crappy deadbeat ex, fulltime working mom led me to Dr/therapist who suggested exercising. I ran until winter when I was almost killed running at night by a texting a-hole in an SUV, then I joined the gym.

I love the classes, have a rockin body now, it helps with the stress and has a free playroom/movies for the kids :)

I figure since I quit smoking that more than pays for the membership anyways (puffing was like almost 100 bucks a month!)

Wow! That was inspirational. 135 pounds is a lot to lose! I am 'working' on (and I use that term loosely) losing about 60-70 pounds. Not easy! I find that I can constantly talk myself into eating something I shouldn't, like takeout pizza and candy. I also love soda, especially coke and have a hard time saying no. One thing I notice about all my skinny friends is that none of them drink soda!

Well Bex, my cleaning lady just left and I have to admit, I am beginning to really like this cleaning lady thing! LOL!

Our whole family's vice, and I know this is bad, but its Mt. Dew. DH and I, and older DD all drink it, and way too much of it. I did cut back to either 1 can or 1 20 oz. a day while I was pregnant and I do drink quite a bit more water now, but that is really all I can think of that is something that none of us are willing to give up completely.

I tend to drink way too much Pepsi, usually 4-6 cans a day. I try to drink more water and chai tea, but I seem to go back to the Pepsi. I also don't like not going yard saling on saturdays, but I figure it is part of my debt free journey as I have been making sure that what I buy is something that has been on my list and that I would most likely have bought at a regular store. 2 weeks ago I bought a new blender ($80) but I didn't open it right away, and that was a good thing as the following week I found a similar blender at a yard sale for $5. (newlyweds and they got a new one for a present) So I returned the new one.

Also, a great thread. THANKS.

I didn't think there was anything that I won't give up. In fact I'm currently thinking about getting rid of my cable and internet again so I can snowflake that $120 a month. (I did w/out for a year and a half before and I could use the library to check the boards.)

However, today at the grocery store I realized I have several things I won't give up:

We only eat whole grain bread, pasta, and brown rice and I won't go to the white stuff even though it's sooooo much cheaper. Every loaf of bread I buy costs at least twice as much as the cheapest white bread :( but I do look for specials to stock up, I stick to the cheapest 100% whole grains they have, and I don't care about the brand name so that's where I 'save' on it. Sometimes I think it'd be better, cheaper and fun to make my own bread and add ground flax for extra health benefits, but I'm not sure how to do it from scratch, whether I already have the right kitchenware or even if it's time effective enough to make it worth the 'savings'. As it is, when I do buy them, I have to watch any flour or mixes in our cupboard for bugs and expiration dates because we don't use them enough.

On the unhealthier side, I haven't found a chocolate syrup that's worth paying for other than Hershey's. So, if for some reason I'm allowing that item into the cart at all, it's Hersheys! (maybe we have 4 small containers in a year) I'm open to suggestions if any of you have a brand that tastes good and is cheaper.

Oh, and I paid for decent tires instead of the cheaper ones, because in the long run it'll be worth it.

I guess the one thing I can't give up is chocolate, especially that time of the month.
