Spending Anxiety

My bf is going to Costco today. We need meat and few other things. They have great meat at pretty good prices and usually good prices on bulk items as well. But I get anxious when he goes. It is not that I don't trust him, I do. I think it is the dollar amount. The money is in our grocery budget but I still get almost sick to my stomach when I see the big bill.

My question is this. Is this ever going to go away? Am I going to be like this forever? Do you ever feel this way? I don't want to be like this. I hope if all goes as planned things will not be tight always and I do want to buy things at some point.

I am so glad this board is here because sometimes I think I am a little nuts and no one gets it.

Thanks

NO YOU ARE NOT NUTS. I hate it sometimes when Raymond walks out of the house to go to the supermarket. Now, he does watch for sales and he uses a lot of coupons. In fact, all in all he is a good man. But I want to put more on the snowflaking them really I should sometime. I adore seeing that ticker go down to the point at times it has been I put more toward the bills to get to a figure

Oh Mary Ann you are so wise. I will probably be wanting to fix up my store when I hit around $8000 by Christmas I hope. I would love to paint and do something with the floors. I have gray floors too! But........once I have my land and building paid off I need to work on my children's education savings and hopefully my store credit line will be in better shape over time because it not pulling a loan out of it every month as a forced payment. It should, in theory, correct itself and then some given enough time. But that will not be for about 3 years. So this ticker first then I will have to think of another motivator. The rest is difficult to quanitfy and I'm not sure I would put my mortgage on a ticker because snowflaking that baby will not happen for years. I need to focus on savings after this one is paid because frankly, I am going to run out of time before my kids go to school.

We don't really have a local butcher here. And we always use the meat. We would never buy something we would not use or need because it is on special. We are pretty good with distinguishing our needs from wants. I really think it is just the amount of the receipt. I need to get over it anyway, I am working on it.

I suppose I have not really said what kind of store I have. I do not have a website(but you guys are cute for asking!!). I own a convenience store in a small town in rural Canada(it is so Corner Gas Bex!!). It is the only store in the town ( I am a monopoly, yea me! LOL!) and it serves about 340 people in the town and another 1000 in the surrounding area. I have gas, liquor, wine, beer, small grocery, smokes, all types of snacks, an ATM, Auto supplies, DVD rentals and a little coffee shop in the back. It actually does quite well I just need some more time to get things moving(and pay down some debt as in my land and building and get the store credit line to a manageable level and then one day...I will be in the black!!). I bought it from my ex husband about a year and a half ago and run it on my own now. I have 3 staff that are fabulous. I have 26 vendors that supply the store that I deal with and order from. I do all my own accounting for my store which is quite extensive except I have my accountant file my corporate taxes once a year. I also work at my store 40-60 hours a week, sometimes more if required. So yes I am a busy girl but I really do enjoy it, I love the people and seeing my equity grow in something I work so hard at. One day I will sell it and do something else but for now I will keep inching forward and see what happens.

I've always wondered what your store sold ... for some reason, I pictured a bookstore or craftstore.

I shared your anxiety at one time, but DH and I worked out a compromise on Costco as it really does save us a TON of money on meat and staples.
