How is your Fall Looking?
| Mon, 08-10-2009 - 2:40pm |
Summer is always crazy for most people. Does you fall look better on the financial front, say, after school supplies?
I am wondering about this as one DS is changing schools and I might have to shell out extra cash for some things.
I guess we will handle it, whatever comes along.
How does your fall look? By the way, I want a really yummy crock pot recipe. Suggestions would help. Working and then coming home to cook sucks so I am looking for cheap (and easy!!) suggestions.
Thanks Ladies!!

The only thing I use to look forward to in the fall was college football.

Ok, my favorite crock pot recipe is western style pork ribs (the really cheap cuts) with chopped onion, 2T of vinegar, 1/4 c ketsup, 1/4 c or less of brown sugar and 1/2 c water.
Well my DDs first private school tuition payment will be automatically deducted from my account on Aug. 20th so not looking forward to that.
With the challenging spring/summer I've had, I think the fall will be pretty good!
I have started making all of my beans in the crock pot instead of buying canned.

<Ohh good question! Really gets me thinking!!
Mine should be about the same as summer. Not too hard, but not a walk in the park either.
The bad news for the fall:
1) Sisters Birthday September 28 (~ $50)
2) Tuition for grooming classes, $600 due first week of September, $1000 due second week of October (already have $400 put aside and remaining $200 will come on my September 2 pay)
3) BF's bday is November 8. Already told him he is likely getting one big present for Bday and Christmas (I just don't know what it is yet!!)
4) Need to hire a handy man to come finish my fence. It should only take a few hours so I can't see it being more then $100. I have most of it put away in savings and am hoping to hire someone around the end of September to bulk it up a little more. (the friend who was going to help is expecting a baby so he is out of the picture!)
Good News:
1) I don't pay property taxes for November and December so thats an extra $800. If all else fails, it will be used for tuition.
2) I should max out on my CPP at some point in late Septemer which means an extra $100 - $120 a paycheck. This will help with tuition too!
3) I have a cash back CC that I use

On a positive note, DH finally landed a national commercial, which he should start receiving pay for (flat filming fee and residuals) in September. There's no telling how much or how long the spot will run, but it at least will give us a little breathing room for the fall.
As for expenses, there are a few things going on that will add to our basic monthly:
1. A wedding and a birthday in September (not to mention our anniversary, but we usually keep that low-key). $120 for gifts plus $40+ gas & tolls.
2. Another wedding in October. $100 for gift plus $20+ for gas & tolls.
3. We drained our Christmas Club account over the last couple of months (it ended up being our de facto emergency fund), so we're going to have to come up with a way to replenish that.
I LOVE crockpot recipes -- many of my favorites actually come from the South Beach Diet board here:

Naturally, I managed to forget about a few things (blocked them out of my mind, maybe?
