I know a few of you do this and I am as bad as the rest, probably worse.

Several years ago, this was a real problem for me.

Ah yes, I forgot I do have some gold to cash in.
I think I used to do it in the spring for plant too, but in 2010 I budgetd a lot more money for those plants, that is why I have a budget tab for the next year, so I can add spending where I encounter problems this year.
Good question.
And I think I have an answer for myself anyway, is it probably won't be until sometime next year though unfortunately. I am working on saving up enough(1000) to get my first GIC for my kids for college. I had about $500. I just borrowed from this money to up my snowflake amount for August though. I think I can get it back by then end of August plus the $50 I want to add to it this month and every month. When I get to 1,000 I will buy the investment and start again. But right now I am concentrating on the ticker for most of my extra funds. Then I can fully concentrate on the kids education fund, as that is my next goal. I am so happy to have a savings goal as opposed to a debt repayment goal next. My business credit line will take care of itself because it will not be drawing my land and building loan (ticker) from it any longer yeah!! In theory, it should go down on its own if I don't change anything. So I will be saving and paying down more debt after this ticker is history(I am hoping less than a year). Until then I will probably continue to steal Avon payments from the kids fund LOL(to be replaced of course with payments from customers as they roll in), until I have the grand I need to go ahead with my first investment.
Of course for all these goals and plans to go ahead everything has to go perfectly. So I will see what happens into fall here and keep plugging away at the current goal.
Good luck with the letter you wrote the ex to help with some back to school expenses. I hope he comes through to make things easier for you.
That's such a good idea!
I'm paid twice a month, on the 15th and 30th. Because mine is the "main" (read: stable, consistent) income, we count on that for the majority of bills and use DH's income to fill in. Ideally, we'd like to be in a position where my last paycheck of the month -- on the 30th -- goes toward the following month's bills, so that we pay the early stuff on time. Unfortunately, it hasn't been that way for a long time; we're constantly one paycheck behind.
We're currently working to get a baby eFund established; this month, I've started rounding down my paychecks and force-flaking the "extra" into the eFund. This will take a few months or more, but once we have the eFund established I'd like to continue flaking to get that one-paycheck buffer back.
I'd really love to be back on track. Thanks for the reminder!
My problem is that I am not specific enough with the variables of my budget.
Well you will do this and then you will feel a lot better. I think we of the credit card generation all pay things backward it is our mind set sometime.
Personally I just want to live until that first check comes in this October. If I can make it for one check then they have to give Raymond the 250.00 when I die.
I just plan on blowing it about a half of it and banking the rest for Raymond.
Good luck with your plan

Once my classes are done and I don't have to worry about paying tuition anymore!!! That is a huge expense that is sucking all my snowflakes at the moment so once its done I'll have a lot more breathing room!
